November feels like it just started, and then suddenly ended, leaving Christmas right around the corner. What happened?? While November was not a smooth-sailing month, it was still a calm one at the same time. Does that make sense? I enjoyed watching the leaves turn red, and suddenly we’re already halfway to exams at Uni. But enough with my ramblings, click through to read about the things I loved/experienced in November, and what I’m looking forward to in the upcoming months.

Bomber Jackets → Bomber jackets have been having their moment this year for me, in every season. So you bet, once that colder weather hit, I went out and got myself the warmest one I could find. I think there’s just something to badass about a cropped bomber jacket with your favorite pair of jeans and some winter boots. As for when I go home to LA, I’m looking forward to wearing the jacket with my beloved white sneakers again.
Timberland Boots → I was lucky enough to get a pair of these boots in wine red from a friend. They are warm, comfy, and have an awesome grip at the bottom. This might even be the first winter where I don’t slip on ice and land painfully on my butt. 😉
Anything Rooibos → Back in September, my two best friends gave me a set of skincare from South Africa, created using rooibos extracts. I was very excited to test out the products, as I love the tea already, and had always been obsessed with their skincare. The products did not let down; I liked it all, from a creamy face mask, cleansing soap, and rich body butter.
Essence I ❤ Extreme Mascara → For years I held on to this Make Up Forever Smoky Lash Mascara, but alas, no more. After finding out I usually spend over $20 on a tube of mascara, my two best friends insisted that I try out this mascara, which goes for a mere 2 Euros a tube in Germany. I’m already on to my second tube of the product, and am so glad to have found a wonderful drugstore alternative.
Hoop Earrings → I know this has been a thing for a while, but I just like that this trend has come back in style. My current favorite look is having them jazz things up when I have my hair up in a messy bun.
Essie “Saved By The Belle” Polish → This lovely pink color was given to me by a friend, and I love it. The pink is still neutral, but just enough to pop out (especially when I’m dressed in all black, which has been happening more and more often lately). The color goes on well, and stays chip-free for a solid 3-4 days, which is quite a lot in my book.
Turtleneck Sweaters → Slimming, stylish, and warm! What more can you ask for? I’ve been loving this one from H&M.

Getting back into writing → November marked the official return of the blog. Truthfully, I think the trick to it working out this time is to not set too much pressure on myself when it comes to publishing posts. Ideally I want to publish two a week, but sometimes that just won’t be possible. And I refuse to sacrifice quality for quantity!
Weekend in Essen → I spent a much needed weekend relaxing, and just taking a break from it all when I visited my grandmother. Lying on the couch, drinking tea and having grandma feed me for the weekend was just what I needed. Plus, the countryside outside of Essen is just stunning in the fall, bright red and orange as far as the eye can see.
Thanksgiving → I just love Thanksgiving, and feel incredibly thankful to have found friends in Munich to carry the tradition on with me. While two years ago it was just my girls and I, in the past years our group has truly grown huge. This year a group of about 16 of us got all dressed up, everybody brought a dish, and we had an incredible evening. Simply perfect, despite being so far away from home.
» Reading, Listening and Watching «
Reading → November was the month where I finally got around to finishing three books I had started in the past months. Those three were: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, In A Dark, Dark Wood, and My Not So Perfect Life. Harry Potter was a reread for one of my seminars (how cool is it that we get to study Harry Potter??). I actually got so into it, that I’ve decided to rewatch all of the movies. In A Dark, Dark Wood, by Ruth Ware, is a novel I decided to pick up after enjoying another book by her, The Woman in Cabin 10, so much. The novel didn’t disappoint, I would say it’s a perfect right before bed book. Lastly, I read the german version of My Not So Perfect Life, by Sophie Kinsella. Truthfully, being such a huge fan of her other novels, I was left quite disappointed by this one. It dragged on forever, and I really only forced myself to finish it so I would finally be done. Maybe the English version is better, but the german one left me less than pleased.
Listening → I know I’m mainstream as hell, but guys, I dig Taylor Swift’s new album Reputation. Gorgeous is just so.good. However, I’ve also discovered some other favorites this month. I heard Paul Kalkbrenner’s Sky and Sand for the first time while at a friend’s place a few weeks ago. Although the techno classic came out many years ago, I’ve had the song on repeat this entire November (including right now, while writing this post). Camila Cabello’s single Havana also gets me wanting to dance every time, along with everything by Axwell /\ Ingrosso (still haven’t gotten over seeing them live this past summer at the Southside Festival).
Watching → I’ve started watching How I Met Your Mother again, and am exactly as into the show as I was when I first watched it 4 years ago. However, if you want to check out something new, you can’t miss Mindhunter. A new Netflix Original series, I finished this show about early serial killer profiling in about two days (I know, not like I have anything better to do). I have this weird interest in all things serial-killers, and as this show is about early FBI analysis of mass-murderers, I was hooked. Already waiting for season 2!
» December Goals // What I’m Excited For «
Flying home → Finally, after 9 months, I am heading home again. I could not be more excited to chill on the couch with my dog, see old friends again, and spend some quality time with my family.
Christmas → Do I really need to say much more about this? Ya girl loves Christmas. And despite not even being in Munich for the most of December, you bet I’m also going to be decorating here.
New Years in NYC → While I had a brief 4 hours in NYC last summer, I’m thrilled to be returning for a full 4 days this year over New Years Eve. I’m staying with a good friend from high school. I can’t wait to explore the city, and to have some quality girls time together.
Thank you so much for reading! What things did you guys love this November? x Julia
