Lush Holiday Products

I don’t know about you guys, but I am absolutely thrilled that signs of Christmas are starting to pop up around Paris. Marks & Spencer has brought out their truffles and advent calendars, stores are selling Christmas scented candles, and, best of all, Lush has rolled out their lineup of winter products. Having had not the best week last week, I decided to treat myself this past Thursday, indulging in the body wash Hot Toddy, and the soap Yog Nog. My bathroom now smells of Christmas, and I could not be more thrilled. Some of you might think I’m crazy already preparing for the holidays, but, this cold weather has my system all out of whack. Right now the temperatures I’m experiencing are the types I got only at Christmas in Los Angeles, making my body think it’s a good two months further in the year! Might as well go with it though, because it’s never too early to start getting excited for the best holiday of the year :) For reviews and descriptions of these two wonderful products, keep on reading!

I immediately loved Hot Toddy when the very friendly sales girl at Lush St. Lazare held it up to my nose. To put it simply: it smells like you just walked into a Christmas market. Described as “laced with softening seaweed, fresh ginger, cinnamon leaf oil and cleansing lemon oil”, this gel will make you want to curl up next to a crackling fire by the time you’re out of the shower. It lathers well, and leaves just the slightest, most delicate trace of shimmer behind. And I think that the red and gold of the bottle makes the product alone (sans the smell) Christmas-y. I like to use this one to really clean off, and to shave. It really lathers up well, and the size will make it incredibly practical in the next few months of travel. I highly recommend it, the spicy scent will draw you in and have you hooked. Promise!

While the choice of which soap to buy was a hard one, I’m very happy that I went with Yog Nog in the end. Made with “moisturising soya yoghurt and a dash of festive spice”, and infused with a “blend of clove bud and ylang ylang essential oils”, this soap (dusted with cocoa powder I might add) will bring a smile to your face. It smells like the warmth of the holiday season, and is what I use after lathering up with Hot Toddy. Other than its delectable appearance (and it seriously smells so good that I have been tempted to take a lick of the cocoa powder), it even has tiny pieces of nutmeg and clove inside, perfect for exfoliating at the end of your bath/shower. I use this one all over before getting out, and cannot stop sniffing myself throughout the day. And, the smell of this soap really does last all day. I hate it when I can no longer smell the scents I used, even after immediately getting out of the shower. I promise, that is not a problem with this one.

So, to break down how I use my new products to you: First, Hot Toddy to clean and take care of business. Second, I indulge in Yog Nog, using it all over to exfoliate my skin and leave me smelling like the holidays long after I get out. The combination is stellar! So happy with my purchases.

Lastly, the ladies of the store were kind enough to send me off with a free sample! I received Flying Fox with my purchase. Like Hot Toddy, this one is also a shower gel. It smells like orange and jasmine to me, although the website describes it as having a heavy honey scent as well. It’s an invigorating scent, and reminds me of summer! I’m saving this one for travel, the perfect size makes it easy to throw in my cosmetic bag. Thank you Lush!
